India on Thursday launched a new brand of hoodies featuring independence Day and the Independence logo.
The country’s largest manufacturer of jeans, shirts, coats and accessories is also launching the Independence Day hoodies to mark the 100-year anniversary of the country’s independence from British rule.
The Independence Day brand will be launched by independent brand the Independent Hoodie Co., which was set up in 1999 to make garments for the independent industry.
It has sold more than 1,000 products across the country.
The independent hooded sweatshirts, which feature a large portrait of Mahatma Gandhi and a red and white striped flag, are priced at Rs. 7,000 ($US7.90).
The hooded shirts will be available at indias biggest independent retailers, including Hindustan Times.
India’s largest online retail portal Indiegogo has also given the Independence day hoodie a thumbs up, raising the campaign’s total funds to Rs. 2.4 crore.
The project is being supported by Indiegampost, the largest crowdfunding platform for independent brands in the world.
Independents will be able to purchase the Independence-themed hoodies through Indiegepost, where users can pledge up to Rs 500 to secure the hoodie.
The campaign also aims to raise $100,000 by January 20, 2020.
