With the Senate in session and the presidential election in the rearview mirror, the United States independence movement is once again looking to make an impact.
The senators in question are Independent Senator Bernie Sanders and Independent Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, and they’ve both declared their independence from both parties.
The two senators are in the minority in the House of Representatives, which has a Republican majority.
The two senators have also called for the creation of a separate independent judiciary, which could give the senators more leeway to push their case on issues that they deem important.
“We want to give a voice to the people of this country, and to our state legislatures,” Sanders said.
“We want our states to have a real say on the most important issues in our lives.”
In their new book, ” The Resistance ,” Sanders and Whitehouse describe the rise of the independent senator movement in the United Kingdom, the emergence of Donald Trump in the US and the increasing role of corporate interests in US politics.
“The people of our country have been fed up with two parties that are not listening to the American people, that are just too beholden to the special interests,” Sanders wrote.
“Our political system has been hijacked by corporations, and our economy has been broken, and it has been done with our tax dollars.”
The only way we can stop this corruption of our system is by having an independent government, by having a legislature that is truly representative of the people. “
